The REAP Academy - Spring 2023

The application process is closed.  The next REAP Academy will be held Spring 2024.  

 

Project REAP (The Real Estate Associate Program) is the industry’s leading effort to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the commercial real estate industry. 

The REAP Academy is nearing its 25th year of bridging the gap between talented diverse professionals and the commercial real estate industry.  The Academy is designed to introduce commercial real estate terminology, concepts, and processes which can lay the foundation for a successful career in the commercial real estate industry, career advancement or pivot.

Program Structure

  • Candidates can participate from anywhere in the country and abroad

  • 10 weeks of classes (7 weeks virtual sessions; 3 weeks in person engagement) + on demand courses

  • Academy begins Monday, April 10, 2023 and ends Monday, June 12, 2023

  • Virtual sessions will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 5pm - 6:30pm EST

  • The on-demand courses are designed to be taken on a weekly basis (at a day and time that is at the discretion of the candidate.)

There are two tracks from which a candidate may consider:

  • Hybrid:  For candidates who live in a Project REAP metro (i.e., Atlanta, New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Los Angeles and Dallas) and able to participate in the 7 weeks virtual sessions and 3 weeks of in-person engagement in current REAP markets.  The in-person engagements are scheduled for the following dates:  Thursday, April 27; Thursday, May 11; and Thursday, May 25 from 5:00-6:30 pm in each respective time zone.

  • Virtual:  For candidates who do not live in one of the Project REAP’s current metros and therefore only required to participate in the 7 weeks virtual sessions.

Financial Analysis, Development, Asset Management/Property Management, Market Analysis, Investment Sales/Brokerage, Leasing/Lease Analysis

Lecturers of the REAP Academy are active REAP sponsors and prominent professionals in the commercial real estate industry.  Their insights, experience and expertise will complement the on demand courses and they will serve as support to the candidates.

  • Real Estate Finance and Financing

  • Site Selection (Retail and Industrial)

  • Development (Mixed Use and Retail)

  • Careers in Brokerage

  • Capital Markets & Research

  • Affordable Housing

  • Innovations in Real Estate

  • Conversations with REAPers in the Industry

  • Entrepreneurial Pursuits in CRE 

The on demand content (which may include video instruction and downloadable resources) may be completed at the participant’s discretion, on a weekly basis. Participants should expect to spend approximately four to six hours per week to complete the weekly courses including the on demand classes.

Who's Eligible

  • Applicants with all levels of experience (i.e., entry level, career pivot, career advancement) are encouraged to apply

  • Applicants must have a 4-year degree (or be a current graduating senior) from an accredited institution

  • Prior real estate experience is not a prerequisite as REAP seeks candidates from across a wide spectrum of disciplines

  • At least one (1) year of professional work experience or one (1) year of post-graduate training 

What Are the Requirements

  • A completed application + LinkedIn profile

  • 80% attendance rate (cameras on and fully present)

  • Quiz pass rate of at least 80% (on demand content and platform Powered by ULI Learning)

  • Recommendation letter is recommended but not required

Cohort Target:     Maximum 150

Tuition and Fees

  • Hybrid:  $850

  • Virtual:  $700

  • Early bird discount of $50 for applications received by January 15, 2023 (accepted candidates only)

  • Payment due date:  March 15, 2023

  • The tuition payment is non-refundable and must be received by deadline to secure enrollment
