  • Tailored Curriculum: Focused on finance, development, ownership structures, and career strategies for aspiring executives, operators, and investors in the commercial real estate sector

  • Mentorship: Direct access to industry leaders who understand both the capital and the culture

  • Flexible Tracks: Whether participants aim to work in-house, co-develop projects, invest passively, or launch their own ventures

Why 3P Matters

Athletes often earn substantial income in short, high-intensity careers, but many face severe financial instability within a few years of retiring from professional play.

Key Statistics:

  • Average career length: ~3 years (NFL), ~4.5 years (NBA), ~5 years (WNBA)

  • 60% of former NBA players face financial stress within 5 years of retirement

  • 78% of NFL players experience financial challenges within 2 years

  • 15.7% of NFL players file for bankruptcy within 12 years of retiring

  • WNBA players earn substantially less than their male counterparts and often supplement their WNBA income with other jobs during and after the season

Challenges Athletes Face:

  • Compressed earning windows with limited financial training

  • Pressure to maintain high-profile lifestyles and support extended networks

  • Susceptibility to risky ventures and predatory financial advice

  • Short-term focus and limited access to trusted wealth-building networks

3P addresses these challenges head-on by providing a structured, athlete-centered entry point into commercial real estate—an industry that offers stable, long-term returns and multiple career pathways.

“As a former NFL player who transitioned into construction management and commercial real estate, I’ve seen firsthand both the opportunities and losses people experience in this industry. A program like 3P has the potential to equip athletes for long-term success—whether as investors or as industry professionals. With the right education and guidance, athletes are uniquely positioned to drive real impact for their families and the communities they care about. I’m proud to be part of helping make that happen.”

Steve Jordan, The 25th inductee in the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor.

Steering Committee

3P is guided by a national Steering Committee composed of industry veterans, former pro athletes, and corporate leaders

George Lynch Smal Forward.jpg

"After playing 12 seasons in the NBA, I saw how tough the transition can be for even the most disciplined athletes. In this phase of my post-playing career, I’ve focused on helping others build lasting wealth. 3P can offer a real roadmap for that. Whether someone wants to invest in commercial real estate or pursue it as a second career, the goal is the same: turning a short window of earning power into long-term impact for their families and their communities."

Overview

3P (Pro Players Property) is a national initiative from Project REAP created to empower current and former professional athletes to achieve long-term success in commercial real estate. Modeled after REAP's award-winning Academy, which has graduated over 2,000 professionals in the past two decades, 3P bridges the gap between athletic excellence and generational wealth-building through REAP’s three pillars of education, mentorship, and industry access.
