Interim Director Global Portfolio Asset Management

As Microsoft’s Director Global Portfolio Asset Management (interim), Ms. Rainey manages a portfolio of over 5,000 lease options (reservations, renewals, ROFO, decoms) in 36 countries with a team of asset managers to ensure global legal compliance and mitigate contractual risks. She began her career as a law clerk in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and moved on to intellectual property litigation at the law firm of Kenyon & Kenyon. While at Kenyon & Kenyon, Ms. Rainey gained experience working on federal court litigations and other adversarial proceedings, including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Simultaneously, Ms. Rainey enjoyed personal success in residential real estate, acting on her own behalf as investor and landlord. After completing a commercial real estate course through the Real Estate Associate Program (Project REAP), Ms. Rainey later pursued in-house real estate opportunities, including portfolio management and site selection at McDonald’s, site selection at Walgreen, as well as data center site selection at Microsoft.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Old Dominion University and a Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Ms. Rainey also serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary for the Real Estate Associate Program.

When not hard at work, Ms. Rainey enjoys traveling. Some of her favorite trips include Morocco, Dubai, Indonesia, South Africa and Colombia.
