The REAP Academy | Spring 2024

Project REAP (The Real Estate Associate Program) is the industry’s leading effort to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the commercial real estate industry.

The REAP Academy is celebrating its 25th year of bridging the gap between talented, diverse professionals and the commercial real estate industry.  The Academy is designed to introduce commercial real estate terminology, concepts, and processes that can lay the foundation for a successful career in the commercial real estate industry, career advancement, or pivot.

 

The application window for the Spring 2024 academy has closed. Applications will be reviewed during the next few weeks by our independent screening committee. We anticipate notifying accepted applicants by March 1st.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are two tracks from which a candidate may choose:

Hybrid: For candidates who reside in a Project REAP metro (i.e., Atlanta, New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Columbus, Los Angeles, and Dallas) and are able to participate in the 7 weeks of virtual sessions and 3 weeks of in-person engagement in the current REAP markets. The in-person engagements are scheduled for the following dates: Thursday, April 25; Thursday, May 9; and Thursday, May 23, from 5:00-6:30 pm in each respective time zone.

 

Virtual: For candidates who do not reside in one of Project REAP’s current metros and, therefore, are only required to participate in the 7-week virtual sessions.

What You Will Learn

Core Topics:

Financial Analysis, Development, Asset Management/Property Management, Market Analysis, Investment Sales/Brokerage, Leasing/Lease Analysis

Lecturers of the REAP Academy are active REAP sponsors and prominent professionals in the commercial real estate industry.  Their insights, experience, and expertise will complement the on-demand courses, and they will serve as support to the candidates.

  • Real Estate Finance and Financing

  • Site Selection (Retail and Industrial)

  • Development (Mixed Use and Retail)

  • Careers in Brokerage

  • Capital Markets & Research

  • Affordable Housing

  • Innovations in Real Estate

  • Conversations with REAPers in the Industry

  • Entrepreneurial Pursuits in CRE 

The on-demand content (which may include video instruction and downloadable resources) may be completed at the participant’s discretion, on a weekly basis. Participants should expect to spend approximately four to six hours per week to complete the weekly courses, including the on-demand classes.

Who's Eligible

  • Applicants with all levels of experience (i.e., entry-level, career pivot, career advancement) are encouraged to apply.

  • Applicants must have a 4-year degree (or be a current graduating senior) from an accredited institution.

  • Prior real estate experience is not a prerequisite, as REAP seeks candidates from across a wide spectrum of disciplines.

  • A minimum of one (1) year of professional work experience or one (1) year of post-graduate training is required.

What Are the Requirements

  • A completed application and LinkedIn profile

  • 80% attendance rate (cameras on and fully present)

  • Quiz pass rate of at least 80% (on-demand content and platform Powered by ULI Learning)

  • A recommendation letter is recommended but not required.

Cohort Target:  Maximum 150

Tuition and Fees

  • Hybrid:  $1,100

  • Virtual:  $900

  • Payment due date:  One week after acceptance notification

  • The tuition payment is non-refundable and must be received by the deadline to secure enrollment.

Program Structure

  • Candidates can participate from anywhere in the country and abroad.

  • The Academy consists of 10 weeks of classes (virtual sessions and in-person engagements for Hybrid candidates), along with on-demand courses.

  • Begins on Monday, April 8, 2024 and ends on Monday, June 10, 2024

  • Virtual sessions will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm EST.

  • The on-demand courses are designed to be taken on a weekly basis, allowing candidates to choose a day and time at their discretion.
